crank position sensor

My 1986 560sl has a dying crank position sensor (part # 002 153 60 28). Once the car gets to running temp the sensor thinks it too hot and won't let the car be started again until it cools down (5-20 minutes) It just cranks. After a little cool down time it fires right up. MBZ has stopped making this part and I haven't been able to find a used one. Any suggestions???
B.

I found a Bosch # 0261210039 at Partsgeek.com for $229. Definitely not inexpensive.

Thanks for the link for this part. Unfortunately, all the websites still list this part but no one actually has one. Not that I've found so far.

That is what I have read. Even EBay sellers rarely have new or used anymore.

Last resort is to try the Classic Center. While they don't have it maybe they have other info.

Hard to believe an essential part would be NLA. It's probably same part as used on later cars, except for harness/mounting.

Autozone say they have them:

Best Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts for Cars, Trucks & SUVs

For our W210, the CPS only costs something in $40-$82 range.

Yes, but that's the front sensor. I need the rear sensor.

Just curious as to how you diagnosed a bad cps???

Alan
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyhow.
