Saw this in their paper catalog I get in the mail for $12.25. It's $9.99 online. Catalog states heat treated allow steel shafts...for 10 bucks plus shipping (free shipping but a $5.99 handling charge) I'll take a chance on it and report back.
Yeah, like we have to be talked into buying more tools. Deal does seem almost too good to be true, but they are for speedy removal and installation, socket ones to do the heavy lifting.
I find that saving a bit for a better quality tool is the best practice. Cheap ones tend to be more expensive in the long run (if you know what I mean)
Inexpensive doesn't always mean "cheap". I have a Campbell Hausfeld air hammer I bought probably 30 years ago for under ten dollars. The damn thing will probably outlive me. Inexpensive? Yes. Cheap? No way. The bargains are out there...
IMO the more expensive tools are that simply because you're not paying strictly for the tool so much as the service/warranty/financing. i.e. Snap-On, MAC, etc.
Unlike 40 years ago, cheap tools today are often decent quality and IMO there are relatively inexpensive tools out there which are quite serviceable.
Of course I'll still include the "look before you buy" warning because there's always crap to be bought. LOL
I still have a pair of good pliers I bought in Canada in 1975. I've hammered with it and it doesn't have a mark on it. Real "tool steel" is expensive these days. I've found many allen keys are just toys for assembling IKEA. It's hard to know what's good and what isn't. Snap -on is good but $$$ here.
Years ago, metric tools were nowhere near as available as they are today. To service a Mercedes in the '60s and '70s often required one to buy Snap-On.
Inbus and Wiha tools are both made in Germany and won't break the bank yet great quality. Think a 10 piece T handle set will set you back $30.
