One bad bulb should not kill all the turn signals, but a stuck four way flasher switch certainly will. Turn the four way flashers on and off several times to recycle the switch and see if that cures the problem.
Thanks for this post! I had the same problem, turn signals would mysteriously stop working. Cycled the emergency flasher switch everything started working. Now I am going to soak the E-flashers switch with electrical deoxidizer (miracle solution for old automotive analog electrical components). Thanks again!
On my 74 450SL when I first start it, the signals flash fast like there's a bulb out. I press the 4 way flasher switch a couple times and the signals operate like normal.
I think the e flasher switch acts as a relay...if there is resistance (corrosion, bad contact) it may think a bulb is out? I think the deoxidiser is the trick I will report my findings next week.
Pull your fuses, clean the terminals, and replace with copper fuses. I only got halfway done doing mine before it got cold and the flasher fuse(s) are on the half that didn't get done before it got cold. 2nd thing to do when the weather warms up. First thing is to put air in the tires.
