Trunk light fix

I just noticed, after 5 years, that my trunk light is not working.

There was no power to the light bulb so I had to dig into the wiring behind the fuel tank cover in the boot.

On cutting open the braiding I found that the 12 volt line had snapped due to the movement from the boot, the earth was also close to snapping.

I soldered in some new cable.

Then taped up with some adhesive cloth tape.

Let there be light!

My cable on my trunk had started to fray. Probably the PI (previous idiot) got the wire stuck in the jam as it closes.

I ripped off the braiding, did a nasa splice, and sealed it up with tape.

Still going! Gotta love simple wiring :)

Hmmm. Gonna store this thread for a rainy afternoon. My trunk light has same issue, no power but fuse is not blown.

May couple the exam with a fuel charcoal line review as well given the faint smell of gas in the trunk.

Thanks for posting with photos. Inspiring.

And just realized how old it was. Ha!
