1985 380sl door lock cylinder issue

Recently bought a beautiful 1985 380 SL. Driver's side lock takes the key but won't turn. Passenger side works fine. Applied graphite spray with no success. Called M-B parts to order a tumbler /cylinder and am told the part is no longer available. M-B Parts advised me to purchase a 380 SL door handle and key at salvage.Took it to a locksmith...was told they could'nt key it to my original key. Does anyone know the answer? Do I need a better locksmith? HELP, PLEASE!!

Just an idea, is it possible switch the passenger door lock cylinder into driver door?

Can the salvage yard give you all 3? ( 2 doors 1 trunk).

It can be done. First I would check to see why this one does not work. It could be broken or something jamming the assembly. Could also be it has been changed.

Is this right gang? Is it just the lock cylinder or are keys no longer available by VIN?

You might try Tom Hansen at the Classic Center, there's a link in Section 00 of the EGv107

I think the keys are still available but either his mechanism is frozen/broken or the handle has been changed.

I know it doesn't help but I went through this with the ignition on my 420 and ended up with 2 keys. I seem to recall a post about doing something with the barrels though.Perhaps search the 126 forum too?
