How to find correct parts number

I am struggling to find the correct part numbers. Parts shop here gives me a part which belongs to R126 chasis or W123. I am aware that some of the parts are common to all of them but just want to make sure that I get the correct one everytime. I have already installed a wrong transmission mount(R126) on my car.

If you have access to a Pc (not MAC) and are in the US, I recommend you subscribe to the EPC (electronic parts catalog)... info is in the Egv107 sticky.

Thanks for your reply.
But EPC doesnot work if you are not in the US. Is there any other way of getting around this?

Doesn't work, or just isn't free (no cost)? Sorry I failed to notice your profile location.

Found this link on another forum. It is Russian website I guess but it works. Just need some members to cross check with EPC and confirm.

You have a euro or us 380?
What parts do you need to know about. I found that russian site slow and confusing. Couldn't even find the injection system for a 500SL listed.

And what year? Parts.com only goes back to 1984 (I believe). If you add a part to your shopping cart the number will show up in the cart.
