This past fall my mom had my volvo, my girlfriend had my PU so I bagged all the leaves and took them to the leaf-drop in the 79sl. The car kinda looked like santas sled, bright red with bags hanging/tied all over it. I know, no pics so it didn't happen.
No Dan, too many for the town, have to take them to a leaf-drop or a farm that accepts them.
I forgot. You guys actually have trees that turn color and look beautiful. We miss out on that here. We miss out on the ice and snow too so i guess it is a trade off. Merry Christmas Pete.
OT, but I used to have a 74 cougar, had to make an emergency delivery of a street light pole to a construction site so I stuck it thru the sunfoof and all was OK till I snagged a
stoplight and it crashed on the roof of the car, broke every window besides ruining the roof.
In the one horse town I live in, there is a moron with a mid 80's Camero that puts 3 bales of hay in the trunk, then a couple more on top of the half open lid against the tear window ! I can never get the camera phone out quick enough ! What a maroon !
BTW, these were company cars, no excuse but I'd never do it to my own. Wait a sec, I didn't own a car back then, always had a company car !.
77 LTD coupe with a "starsky and hutch" stripe. - a Buddy wanted Belgium block for his driveway so every night I'd throw some in the trunk and drop them off. A few nights I was too tired so I just put more air in the adjustable shocks. Yup, hit a pothole, blew the shocks and ripped out the trunk and gas tank. (did almost the same thing to the cougar also)
79 Olds Cutlass t-tops (nice car, 260 v8) - This one had a pretty easy life but one day I put some CI manhole frame and covers in it, took a turn and one of them slid and ripped a hole right thru the quarter panel. Hammered it in and kepy on going.
81 Buick Regal - Junk with a capital J, blew it up in less than a year, still had the 79 Olds so I put that back into service.
84 Hurst Olds - Probably the best car I ever had, kept it as a spare and had it repainted in the 90s. Stolen and totaled.
87 Grand National - about as good as the 81. POS. Stolen twice.
88 Trans Am - what was I thinking. Definitely not a city construction friendly car, Although the slings, cables shackles etc I used to carry around for crane jobs did fit in the rear hatch if I didn't break the window. First night I had the car I have the T-Tops off, I'm in a pub and it starts to rain so I go out to put them on and some body swipped them. No trunk to lock them in. Tracy, you got me started on this !! Anyway, one day were going to a BB-Q upstate and I have a big screen TV strapped to the roof for a raffle prize, it starts to come loose in the Bronx so I exit the cross-bronx expy to tie it down. As soon as I stop a crowd starts to gather and my drunken buddies are yellin "get your tickets, free TV here etc". Within seconds we were mobbed so we jump in the car, I nail it and loose the TV, rear window, spoiler plus some pretty good paint damage. We were laughing like hell and still do. Another car totaled.
After the TA our insurance company told us no more hot cars, 4dr sedans only. Can't blame them, hell those were just some of my cars, my partner was harder on his. Some day I'll tell you about the trucking incidends, man we had fun !!!
