diagnosing a non-working blower

So my blower isn't working. Before I start replacing parts, does anyone know of a diagnostic for the blower? Particularly helpful would be a schematic or at least some ad hoc tests to determine which part has failed. I haven't tried removing the blower motor yet, but I'd assume I could probably just connect 12v somewhere to see if it at least turns on (or is it more complicated than that?).

Open the blower cover and find the plug. Turn on the blower. Check for power.

There is apparently a resistor to keep something from overheating or something like that.

There are multiple wires going to the relay but only 2 going to the actual motor. Disconnect those 2, check blower with jumpers and backtrack from there if the motor works.
