Should the fuel accumulator make a hissing sound after you turn car off? I changed out the fuel tank strainer (whic was not cloged, look pretty clean) but now when car is hot 90 + mark, hard to restart after 20-30 minute car is off? Sounds like no gass or too much gas? Fuel pump seems to hum just fine? One time (not at band camp), car was warmend up (90+), shut car off for about 1/2 hour hard to restart, there was a gurgling noise from gas tank? Bad Fuel Accumulator, bad vocuume line problem? Once car is restarted, runs great? Ha?
Add to that the gurggling sound in the tank, indicative of a internal diaphragm leak in the accumulator sending fuel back to the tank, and it sure does sound like the fuel accumulator has failed.
I may have had the wrong understanding, but I thought that the line leaving the rear of the accumulator was a safety feature that channeled fuel back to the tank in the event of a ruptured FA diaphragm to prevent it from pouring out on the ground. In any event, my cold start problems and tank gurgling stopped with the replacement of my FA.

You are correct, but I'm thinking he's talking about the fuel return line from the engine rather than from the accumulator.
