I cleaned all the ducting on my 107 with Palmolive liquid and a toilet brush, then hosed hard.(outside ofcourse). I dissembled the heater box entirely, cleaned it with degreaser, hosed off then Palmolive and hosed again and replaced all the rubber coating on the flaps. I had the heater core and the a/c evaporator flushed. Also fully dissembled and cleaned the blower motor. I dont have any dust/smell issues in the vents anymore. It only took a couple of months.

A couple of months eh?
I will probably have to dismantle as much as I can. On the W210, the blower is under the dash, but comes out easily enough. There are cabin filters and charcoal recycle filters that can be removed. And I should be able to take off the interior air exit grilles (4 or 5, I think). Maybe that will allow me to get in with something like a small toilet brush. Also thinking of using air blast to try and loosen dust coating in areas I can't reach.
I need to find a schematic of the duct system so that I know where the flaps etc are.
Not looking forward to this It's also my daily driver at present, so I will hav eto put the hard top on and drive the SL until job is done (in hopefully less than couple of months )
Took the W210 dash apart today. Car will be off road for a few days (or months if aussie is right) So put the HT on the 107. First time in a few years! Looks like a difefrent car, except for that wet patch under the car! Haven't fixed the water pump yet!

Well, I did my 107 without a manual so I was really SLOW. I didn't know how anything came off so don't be guided by my snailpace work. Cleaning the ducting s/be easy as long as you can get it out. I'm not at all familiar with a 210.
Good luck.
Ps Vacuum cleaner might help.

There is no manual for the W210, but luckily some owners have access to WIS. Seems like most of the dash has to be taken apart to get at the open ducts. Part way there - car looks a disaster!
Re vacuum - I am going to rig up a small tube on end of shop vac, and vac out ducts after trying to clean with bottle brush.
