I'd like to replace my seatbelts. First, they're 30 years old. Second, the drivers side one has damage from DPO's slamming it in the door for years and years.

I've been unable to find replacement seatbelts at any of the usual parts places (Mercedes Classic Center, Autohaus, PP4B, etc). I also tried the 'Retro Belt' company in the pop up ad on the forum today.

I did search this topic ('seat belt') and there are many posts about the need to replace belts, or installing new belts, but no source identified for a direct replacement seatbelt.

Does anyone know of a source for new seatbelts for the 380SL? Thanks!

I also bought my driver's side belt from the dealer - $625. MB is very proud of them. At least, the replacement had a plastic protector at the seat attachment that keeps it out of the door barely visible in photo).

There's a place here in Oz that does new ones in different colours. Not a fly by night outfit. They are way less than $600 per side but use the existing metal parts. This means a delay ofcourse but if you draw a blank over there PM me and I'll look for the web contact- I have all the colour samples but it's dropped lower down on my "to do" list.

Just hired out my re-webbing to "Seatbelt Planet" in OKC. My originals were chewed about halfway through -- not safe. The new ones are really nice. I paid $130 per belt.

Since SLs look so good, the company blogged about it here:

(mod's edit:The blog page for the SL style belts no longer exists, the link has been changed to their home page.)

https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/

Highly recommended from a safety standpoint. Here's one way to look at it:

It's great to see another specialty vendor embracing these old cars. Did they give you any indication that they can repair more than just the webbing, i.e. the retractor mechanisms themselves?

.

hornetball, you've been officially drafted into the EGv107.

By law you now have to fill out your profile with a vehicle ID and a nominal location.

The penalty for non-compliance can be severe.

:D
Aye, aye, Sir!

Actually, I'm a pretty extreme case of selfishness. Joined in 2008. Made my first post today. In the meantime, I've been sponging tons of knowledge out of here while gradually restoring the wife's 380SL. And I don't mean light stuff either. Just finished 3 months on my back under the car. Complete restoration of the suspension (front and rear), driveline and brakes. I can't believe how smooth these cars are when the rubber isn't rotten.

Next up . . . ACCII!!!

I promise I'll be better.
