The hose connecting the fuel tank to the fuel damper on my '74 fell apart and leaked out my entire tank of fuel.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the hose. I tried using a 19mm crows foot and a couple 3/8" extensions but the hose is screwed in way too tight and the crows foot strips off.
Might it work if I cut the hose and use a deep 19mm socket?
Yes. You have removed most of the hose which would impede removal. The strainer does not get in the way. I removed my '72 without removing the strainer. Good luck. I think tank removal is the way to go now.
Good news is you lost a tank of car vs. potential fire hazard. I suppose that's something to contemplate as the situation, i.e. if this occurred while driving, could have been disastrous!!
Iam telling you bud, take a big set of wirecutters and crimp the tube then bend tube back and forth untill it breaks off. then put deepwhell socket on the fitting, its just that simple Marshcat.Scott..
Pulled the tank, replaced the fuel strainer, replaced all of the rubber hoses in the back half of the car, fixed the exhaust leak, and changed the oil.
Plus I washed the outside and cleaned the inside. Tomorrow I'm putting some dynamat on the floors to get rid of some road noise.
