I was mentioning R107 as SLC model - non convertible.
Locals are saying that panel looks not original for my car. In 1985 outside temperature should be somewhere else. For my it is in middle of panel. See pictures. Is that so?
Hi there, the C107 is the SLC (R107 is the convertible). The temp controls are correct for a US spec car with automatic climate control v3. Many Euro cars have the manual controls with either slide levers or dials.
janissipkovs, have you had a chance to check out the Encyclopaedia?
The MBUSA Center will provided a VIN data card with proof of ownership. In the General Info section is a link to the German Classic Center. You might contact them and see if they'll do the same.
The Service Manual section has a link to an online Manual for your car.
In the Climate Control section is a thread about a common failure for the monovalve system like yours.
Part prices are negligible for the most part when considering that it costs $100+ per hour for an mechanic (not dealer) to work on it which is what eats up the cost here in the US. If you work on it yourself, then you can run a 107 quite cheaply.
Good luck with your SL. Seems like a nice model, keep posting pics as you work it into better condition.
As you, in my country there a very few of these cars and all parts have to be imported so there is an added expense when buying. Also, since mine is a Euro model, some parts in the US do not match with US SLs such as door weather seals, radiator hoses (different engines), flex disks, and the obvious - headlights, bumpers, etc. This is why having access to the EPC catalog is very important - matches your car's VIN # to the parts it needs.
Cheers.
