Fluid Capacities for 1976 450SL

New to the forum as a new owner of a 1976 450SL with 29,500 miles. Based on replies to my previous post about changing the fluids, I would appreciate if someone can tell me the oil, automatic transmission, and coolant fluid capacities. Also, should I use 10W- 30 or 5W-30 for summer driving in Northeast Pennsylvania. What type and brand of automatic transmission fluid should I use. If there is an easy way to find this info on the forum I would appreciate your help. By the way, I am really enjoying this car! I have found that it is a real head turner wherever I go!

I use 10W-50 in my car, but it has 170K miles on it without any engine work to speak of, so things are a little more loose than on your car. Even new, though, I'd hesitate to go as low as 5W.
(And even with 170K miles and no engine work, it passes emissions with the same specs as it had when new - these engine are bullet proof)

Something Dexron II compatible.

Sorry, I don't remember capacities off the top of my head, and my idea of an oil change is writing a check to the place that does it for me. For $110, each time I do it, because these things take way more than 5 quarts. And I use Mobil 1 synthetic.

If you have such a "young" SL can I assume you have the owners manual in the glove box?

Check the last page. Everything is there.

Consider upgrading your 5 quart oil drain pan. My 79 just took about 8 quarts of oil in my first oil change as owner. I don;t know offhand the trans capacity but you should get the Haynes manual at the very least. It's not a quick spin off spin on oil filter, and the trans torque convertor has its own drain plug separate from the pan ( a great feature likely to missed by someone without knowledge of the car, I'd assume)

Engine oil: 7.5 litre or ~8 litre if filter changed

5W for permafrost, 10W if mostly frozen
15W for -15┬░C upwards
20W if never freezes

-20 or -30 if max temp +/- 20┬░C around freezing point (eg. Canada)
-40 and -50 if max temp above 20┬░C in warmer season

Optimal multiseason 10W-50 for temps ranging from -20┬░C to above 30┬░C

Transmission:

107024/044 with 722.004 transmission (99.99% of the cars): full capacity 8.9 litre (torque converter too), oil change 7.9 litre

Coolant: until full, 15+ litres of antifreeze no less than 30% by vol
