Vacuum reservoir.
If the hose is broken you most likely have a vacuum leak.

Glad you aske that question, I did not know either and I found that I had a hose that was broken as well I bet it is on the bottom of the tank. Looks pretty easy to replace just follow it through with a new one.

It's always something! Every time I read this forum I get paranoid but it is great information that will likely keep the car running. I read something I check the car and so on and so on. Onward through the fog!

I guess the 560 is different, my vacuum reservoir is on the passenger side.

It is different. The '86 up 560 and 500 have a 12v pump in the trunk for the central locking system.

Likewise

In my case the bracket securing it had rusted out and the whole thing was hanging by a thread. That seemed a precarious place fior such a vital component, especially since there is a large empty space abeam just inside the engine compartment. All fixed, now. If your door key still works all the pneumatic locks you're okay I think. It pays to look at it though.
