280SL restoration on TV: "Wheeler Dealers"

I haven't seen any mention of this on the forum, but the UK show Wheeler Dealers recently featured an R107 280SL. For those who aren't familiar, this is a show where the hosts buy, restore, then sell interesting classic cars with a total budget of 5000 GBP.

The full episode has been posted on YouTube...

Part 1: Finding the right car; bringing it home

Part 2: Fixing rust bubbles; replacing the front brakes

Part 3: Bundt alloys; replacing the soft top

Part 4: Fixing the exhaust leak; test drive

Part 5: Selling the car on

For DIY types, Part 3 is probably the most interesting: they go through the soft-top replacement step-by-step. Really nice.

Love watching that show. The mechanic is 6'7"--so it's fun watching him slip into an Alfa Spyder--which was another show. They've done a lot of really fun projects.

Fascinated by the "breakers" warehouses they go to. Am curious how common those huge warehouses of salvaged parts are in the UK?????

Wondered if/when they would do a 107. Thanks for the link. Will watch this tonight!

Glad you guys enjoyed it. Edd and Mike seem to be quite fond of old Mercs. In addition to the 280SL, they're done a W201 190E 2.3-16v and a W123 230E.

Those were a basket weave pattern, but not the three piece BBS wheels.
