Drove to Kansas City and back over the weekend in early April. About 126 miles from Columbia. So, around 250 miles total, around 2 hours driving time, no stops. I was actually surprised my parents let me. Considering I'm only 17 and I was going away for the weekend. Still had a little over half a tank left when I got to KC. Full tank would have gotten me there and back, but I decided to fill up.
Cool to hear about the trips you folks have taken. This may be one of the last years it is feasible to drive these older cars on extended trips. If you figure that to drive to and from SLOB about 600miles all in all I ended up using over 30gallons of fuel. If we'd driven the focus or pickup it'd be around 20gallons, ah hell, who cares. What's an extra 50bucks if you get free track time along the coast and the focus might handle better, but the feeling isn't nearly as balanced or neutral you really feel the front wheel propel you.
It's good to hear from the man from australia that is really cool to take such a bitchin trip. It looks like you got to drive on a diversity of roads and through lots of neat territory, cool.
Keep on rocking the right hander!
