So this morning bright and early I headed down south toward San Diego. Seems Ike and Mrs. Ike are vacationing for the week down here in not-so-sunny SoCal. Fun visit. Got my first taste of Jerked Pork - who knew it had nothing to do with Onanism?
Saw a new town, saw 5 fairly bizarre vehicles (including a unimog) at the local car dealer. If anyone is looking for a vehicle that will absolutely, positively get you there, come hell or high water, Ramona Motors has your vehicle. Need to haul some friends? Try the 6 wheel drive ambulance. 4 wheel drive is so last week. To really impress you can't get by without 6 wheels, all digging in at once.
Ike's other half should really be out here in California. I've got my tree covered in the hug department, but Mrs. Ike could hug the neighbor's tree. It's lonely. Ike's name is actually Dorian. I'm wondering where he hides the painting, because he's awfully spry for an old curmudgeon.
Traffic back was hell, but not as bad for me as it was for the RV that they were loading into a dumptruck with a skip loader. Apparently RVs don't have a lot of tolerance for lateral movement. Fortunately it looked like everyone made it out all right.
Glad I went, glad we met, glad I made it back in one piece. You'll have to ask Ike for his impressions of my car, he wasn't volunteering much. Maybe he doesn't like it?
Sorry, no pictures. You know me and cameras - I always remember them an hour after I need them.

I'm surprised there is an Ike. I really thought he was a figment of our collective imagination. Thanks for the recon.

Scott if you go into san diego check out inner auto a.k.a northside imports. They are off the 52 at convoy down (south) a few blocks. I used to live like 5 miles away! Look it up on mapquest. They really have decent prices for oil (mos2 22$ per 5l) and everthing else. this place made my life easier down south and take my word that it might be worth checking out in san diego. they really are a good business and everyone I talked to down south said that was the place to go.

It was very nice to meet Scott as well. His car looks great despite the "unusual" color. I don't know about a very modern-looking GPS sticking out of the dash on a classic SL, but that's just me.
The vehicles Scott's talking about are Pinzgauers. Ramona Motors must really be into them, cause he has quite a few.
