My guess is that the dash is canted backward on the outside edges. The wheel is straight square with the centerline of the car. A totally unscientific theorem supported by the hypothetical observation in my memory without getting my lazy ass out of the chair and ambling out to the garage.

Anybody have a good theory as to why the steering wheels on 107s are canted slightly toward the dash on the outboard side?
Yes I do.

No, afraid it's not. The steering column is not parallel to the centerline of the chassis. The steering gear is mounted inboard of the driver's position, necessitating a slight angling of the column.

The point is that Dig did NOT get me to go out and look at my car. Therefore, I had to make a wild-assed guess. It doesn't matter that it's wrong, what matters is that Dig failed to get me to go out. Eh? I have a bad case of Ass and Heart disease today. I put my ass down and don't have the heart to get it up.
I just went out to the garage to look at mine. If there's any canting to the left, its imperceptable. Mine feels straight.

Take a look at where the column passes through the firewall in relation to the upper end of the column. Once you see it, you'll be surprised you hadn't noticed it.
