Shipping cost and? fees from US to Germany

Hello all

Does anyone know the cost and processing fees, and process of
shipping on sl to Germany? My father was in the military and use to
ship cars back and forth, but that was paid for by the army. I may be
going for up to a year ands would like to take an sl along and sell it there when
I leave. Mabe even find a 500sl to bring back.

Thanks

I don't know the cost. There are other issues. Custom fees, conversions to German or EU standards, and taxes if and when you go to sell it.

Not to mention that with the exchange rate of the Euro to the Dollar right now, all the European buyers are coming to America to get good deals. No one is going to Europe to get good deals.

To ship the car over there cost you est.$1500 ,check on the Net there are plenty shipping companies to ship oversea.
If you want to sell your car in Germany be prepared that nobody wants it,except it is immaculate.
These bumpers and the engine with less horspower then the european models don't make the car a big seller.
The conversion costs are a lot lower then reverse if you bring a car in to the US.
It cost you anywhere between $1500 to $2000 ,also depending in what technical condition the car is because it needs to pass a Staate inspection.
Also a 19% sales tax and I think 10% ,not sure, custome.
So take the car with you for a year and then bring it back you are probably better off.
And forget bringing a car over ,it's not worth it at all.

Bringing anything into the EU to sell attracts a hefty sales tax - that's the unfortunate truth.

To bring a US car into Ireland, unless it is over 30yrs old you pay two separate taxes - VRT (circa 23% of the value) and VAT (21% of the value PLUS shipping costs).

They really do f*** you at the drive thru.

I was stationed in Stuttgart Germany. Yes Military PCS moves we will ship your POV from USA to Overseas however nowadays ( not like in the past ) we counsel you BEFORE its shipped over. I cannot begin to tell you how many Vans, Muscle Cars, Junkers were shipped and when they got to Germany the Petrol was so expensive they regretted it very shortly after they arrived. Also, this is PARAMOUNT, a USA MB is nowhere even close to the tight tolerances of the Deutschland MB. I REGULARLY cruised at 150-200 clicks. And she always kept up. Like it was a jog around the park or something. I would severely caution you from bringing a USA Specs. vehicle back to motherland. You can buy tons of MB's over there very cheaply. Something to think about...
