On several occasions, my dear acquaintance Dugald has suggested that I might better enjoy my W107 ownership experience with the judicious use of a sawzall.
Apparently he's not alone in these thoughts.
Dug, I say just because it can be done, it need not follow that it should be done. This gentleman disagrees.
First question is why? Wouldn't a green SL have been easier and more practical? Too bad as well, a Thistle Green SLC would be one total beauty. If my SLC wasn't taking all my money I'd have my AMG stripped and returned to the Thistle green it came from the factory with.

"I shudder every time I see this." so does the car without reinforcement...
unesl,
No its got reinforcement..... " vinyl, foam and snaps" according to the article. These must be the crash protection element when the car basically folds in on itself.
Surely this car would be breaking some of the US`s laws in terms of safety.
Removing the roof would compromise the structural integrity of the whole car.
Au contraire, mon frere. This one was on ebay last year.
I added the helicopter as a joke but everything else was real.

At least the backseat is usable in this (the green) car. Still a waste of a car though. I wonder what he does if it rains?
.
The guy with the red car extended the trunk to match the SL cockpit area so he could use a standard softtop. I guess that's one way to solve the limited trunk space in a SL.
