Fire Extinguisher

Ok to carry on with a recent theme who has still got their original fire extinguisher fitted in the car?

Mine is but I am sure it would be useless being so old.

Good deal. One less thing to buy. and of course MB would have mounted it as lovely stop as the First Aid Kit.

Got one nestled beside the flap where you plug the hardtop heating element in.

Don't know if it's original or not and hope I never have to find out.

ussun,

I do not know if this is the same thing but the MB code number for the fire extinguisher is 682.

I am coming up to my 600th post on this forum and I have never posted a pic as I haven`t got the foggiest idea how to do it.

ConorD,

It may be that Mercedes changed the location for mounting the fire extinguisher but I have only ever seen them mounted below the front passengers seat which is where mine is.

I checked the owners manual and apparently they should be inspected every two years or so. I have owned my car three years and never had it done. Gave up smoking over thirteen years ago and I never cook chips in the car so there`s liitle chance of a chip-pan fire so I should be ok.

The fire extinguisher is to put out enough of the fire if you crash and burn to allow you to get out of the car and not get flambe'd . It probably couldn't put out an engine fire. I'm thinking about getting one to scare potential passengers, "no that ain't nitrous, it's an extinguisher to put the car out if I crash and burn."
