Hello Guys...I am new to the site but not to the SL. I have had this 1972 grey market 350SL chass. # 107.043 since 1980. I would really like to know where the wiper relay is located. Also, if you can think of anything else that it could be since this thing has so many different speeds located on the directional switch. Do you think it could be the switch and is there any way I can test any of these things to know for sure. If I could locate the correct relay I would change it just because it's old and it couldn't hurt. Especially considering the cost of a relay compared the whole switch $$$$$.
Axiously awaiting your replies....
I'm going to assume that you've checked the fuse and it's OK. Replace it anyway just to be absolutely sure. Then check for voltage at the wiper motor. If it's getting power, the motor itself is the problem. If not, now you're back to either the switch or the relay. I'm pretty sure the wiper relay is one of the six silver ones mounted behind the passenger kick panel, just above the fuse box. If it's not there, it's behind the lower driver's side dash panel, above your shins. Take a look and report back.

One of t he best tools you can buy for sorting out electrical gremlins is the Power Probe. It allows you to power componets like your wiper motor to allow you to check if its the motor at fault. The probe has two wires that can either be connected directly to a 12 volt battery, or a plug that fits directly into your cigar lighter. It also has an earth/return wire with a crocodile clip. You connect that to one side of your motor then use the probe to touch the other. The push the switch on the probe to power the component. Great item of kit espcially for testing old component before you spend money on new parts

Hi flyboyike and Thank You for getting back to me so quickly....I'm sorry I should said that the fuse was the first thing I looked at,unforunately though it is all in German so I'm not quite sure what wipers would be...However I did check all the fuses and they seem fine. Pretty easy to tell on those old ceramic ones....Thanks for your time...

Hi,
Power probes are made by just about every tool manufacturer, MAC, Snap On etc. I've found this web-site that looks to be US based. Mine cost about £40 here in the UK
