Post you engine pics!!!!!!!!!

Post your engine pictures!!!

Just wanted to see other peoples engines.. I have been spending a lot of time looking at mine.

Here is mine… I am cleaning off 30 years of .. I don’t know what…on mine. She is nothing to brag about. I am polishing up everything as I go along. I am pulling the air-assembly thing off in the next week and polish it up, it needs clean. It will give me a chance to wire-wheel the intake pipes.. I have a long way to go, but it has come a long way.. notice the rust in the upper top (passengers side).

Here is another picture of what I have been doing the past few nights…

It's hard to get a picture of my engine (some on my site), but I polished or chromed a lot of it...going a bit over the top was polishing the water pump and the power steering pump (both aluminum on a 560). This was a LOT of work. I know it's not original, but I like it. My 380SL has some leftover spares installed, but I didn't do the power steering pump yet (working on it). Ironically, the most difficult and expensive part was the alternator arm, the alternator mount (the alternator wasn't too difficult but I had to send out to get the fan and pulley chromed along with the arm). These parts are almost entirely obscured by the windshield washer bottle.

I love your engine!!!! I have seen your site and it has inspired me to do mine.

I know a lot of people disagree, or just beleive it should be left alone (stock), but i say, screw that, I'ts my car, and its no collector. On the other hand i do get that way about some modifications... oh well... The point is i loved a nice polished engine bay. If it was a numbers-matching only-made-thirteen-in-some-year, I would not touch it, but its not.

I do plan on doing much more, i will just do it as i replace stuff, or have some extra time. I am going through my whole, i mean, WHOLE fuel system. Giving me a chance to get all those lines nice and shiney...

I the picture i posted, some of the dirty parts did not look so bad and the clean ones did not shine as much as they do. It was taken last night in my garage...

I want to see more!!!!!!!!

That's disgusting! Where's all the crud and grease? What's a 107 without a leaky something or other?

Next you'll tell us the cruise control holds the speed you set it at until you turn it off!

UneSL,

No need to detail I think it looks good already.

Could you post a pic of how your air intake connects to the radiator support panel?
I have a euro 500sl (W07) and want to put the cold air intake of a 560 on it.

I just want to see if the support panel is the same on both models. Then I can just buy the fittings from your model and bolt it on etc.

Regards

Damian
