Would you believe I bought it as an everyday car...Michigan winter included! After having owned it since June of 2006, I have realized I could not drive it in winter (my mechanic would also shoot me!)
So instead, I take it out on dry days and will continue to drive all year round except for those slushy salty days in winter. For the time being, I continue to drive my M3 coupe as everday transport but the lease ends on february 27. From then on, the daughters 1988 3251c will be borrowed on the lousy days. What next?
I see a 1992-1995 E class as a terrific everyday car. I will probably get one prior to September. The 88 SL is a keeper for life.

This whole thread makes me feel like such a slacker. I did remove the top of the air cleaner and polish off some of the junk. Then I got tired so I put it back on and went for a drive.

I love strife2's energy and dedication. Lots of hard work and effort there! I took the lazy way out and just cleaned and shined:

Aluminum polish and lots of rags! They tend to get black when removing the polish. Any aluminum paste polish will work.
