Everett,
The MB Club in Russia has put up a VIN decoder that might be useful to you. It will give you everything that came with the car as new.

The W stands for the country of origin, Germany. The DB is for Diamler-Benz, the manufacturer. These 3 extra digits (alphanumeric) were agreed to in about 1978, but not fully instituted till much later in some cases. My insurance company did not have a clue, but took my money anyway. Your 107 should have the chassis numbers at these locations. Attachment 109976 and may or may not, probably not, include the added WDB
The engine # is located in a difficult position, as was pointed out in an earlier post, grab a mirror and some cleaner (non-alloy corrosive), and verify if you must. Misalignment of any, could indicate replacement. None of the plates should match the color of the body "I Think......."
Merry Christmas, and to all a good night.
