Overdrive

Is there a practical way to add overdrive to a 107? Possibly retrofitting a later trans to the mighty V8, or adding a planetary unit to the tail of the stock trans? Ideally I would want to use it in conjunction with a lower ring & pinion set to add a few hunert rpm with the OD switched off and then drop even more rpm when the OD's engaged. I did see a link while surfing that mentioned using the G.M. 700R4 which with its relatively low 1st gear might negate the need for the R&P swap. I'm not real keen on using chebby parts even though that trans has a good reputation.
Has anybody done anything?

I'd look to a gear vendors OD unit..I know they have been fitted to 722.3s. Your model/year 107 would help some.

This seems to be the (very costly) unit of choice (lots of positive articles), but it might be a really major engineering job to fit it.
