Hello! I'm trying to track down a very high idle speed in my '81 380sl. I've screwed up while jumping the battery (switched cables) and it now revs at 1700 RPM.
I can't find what looks like an OVP, but I did locate the following relay where the OVP usually is located.
I was just reading about mb idle setting they said you should bring it to a reliable machanic to set a sl idle cuz ya need special tool and gages. About the part # I did some searching and I need more info or it wrong. What's it for?
107 820 01 10, replaced by 107 820 00 10, is the relay for the rear window defroster.
You might check the throttle position sensor. My 560 was idling high and the sensor was bad. There are three terminals. #2 terminal is common, #1 has continuity at idle and open at other speeds, #3 has continuity at full throttle and open and lesser speeds.
There is an idle control circuit composed of a control unit, temperature switch, control valve, and other inputs. Could be any of these items that is causing the problem.
