w107 to w123 steering box
Hello. member visiting from w123 forum. I have heard rumor that a 107 and 123 steering boxes are easily swapable (read: the same) but the 107 has a significantly quicker ratio. Curious if anyone here can confirm this, and if it is a fact, if anyone has a box theyd like to sell.
Yes,they are identical. Also the W116 is the same too.
Nutz, does this mean straight swap without affecting the "performance" is possible (recommended)? Reason I'm interested, availability of W123 steering box here in the Philippines are abundant vs. R107. Also, since a R107 is a "roadster", it is likely that the price of the "original" R107 steering box would be *higher* than that of a W123 sedan.
So, the 107 SL steering box will fit into a 123 280E?
But is it a higher steering ratio?
Does anyone know what the ratios of the 123 and 107 steering boxes are?
I was thinking of fitting a steering quickener on my W123 project, until i read this thread, but if this is a higher ratio it would be better to fit the 107 steering box instead.
