Regarding the eBay auction,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...spagenameZWDVW

The air dam/spoiler on that blue metallic eBay car that was listed is the smaller 1986-89 stock MB air dam with a metal AMG badge glued or mounted on it and painted over. It is not an AMG air dam. The original AMG air dam has the AMG logo molded in the fiberglass, and does not have trim on the bottom and does not replicate the detailing of the SL underpanels like the stock MB air dam. The seller must have cracked the AMG air dam and he could not replace it as they don't make them anymore, since 1989, most likely. They fabricated an "AMG" air dam using the stock Mercedes 1986-89 107 air dam and an AMG badge.

On the blue eBay car, the rest of the ground effects look real, and the AMG Penta rims are great. Maybe it was really modified by an AMG shop affliliate. But the front spoiler is wrong. And AMG modified engines are usually engraved AMG somewhere, or even have cast aluminum AMG pieces, since they required a lot of work; not just the sticker shown in the auction...but it's very hard to tell by the 2 photos of the engine.

This blue eBay car is an example of some of these partially fake AMG pieces for sale on eBay that irk me, sorry. The sellers should be more honest, even with one wrong piece like that. It's very hard to tell unless you have one or are old enough to have remembered in minute detail; I probably would not be able to tell the difference, except I have had one on my car since 1985.

If you look at USSUN's front air dam, he has the larger, authentic and original AMG front air dam that was made for the 107 SL and SLC by AMG. You can see it is one solid molded piece of fiberglass, and has a more rounded lip on the bottom, especially in the early pics. He has exactly the same ground effects kit as the green 500SLC car in the AMG catalog photo I re-posted earlier. The AMG stands out in the later pics because it was painted over in a lighter color, but it's not stuck on like the one on the metallic blue car in the eBay auction.

about the spoiler I just put some silver tape on the letters so it stand out a little. Just for fun. It was so hard to see. But how do you like the grill.

PS By no means is it fiber glass. It's some kind of very hard rubber.
