Hey I just got a 1974 450 slc and love cars but have never been privilaged enought to work on an MB. Which bring me to; I will start restoration next week and the cars in, seemingly, good shape. Just wondering if theres anything i should know about these cars from owner/previous owners. so yeah, anything recomendations on what to start with, think/worry about, plan for? anything would be great thank you
Well its always good to hear about another person enthusiastic about their new MB. Also owning a 450 SLC I'd say look for rust at the front wheel arches, leaks around the rear 1/4 window, and the boot. Now you should just enjoy it if the body's fine. The auto box and the iron block are pretty much unbreakable, to a point. I geuss you should start with the basics under the hood and see what happens. It'd be great to see some pics.
