Good. I won the auction, but under the reserve. Did research on value, VIN #, etc. Talked with the seller who gave me a comfortable feeling (long time Merc mechanic). Gave me info on web sites to research and 107 bootcamp. He sent loads of photos. Later he made a deal with someone else who later backed out and I got it. Turned out to be as advertised with very minor issues. Looks as good or better than the photos.

Good. Won the auction, but under reserve. Did research on going prices / value and VIN #. Price was agreeable. Seller made me feel comfortable (long time Merc mechanic). Gave me web sites to research and 107 bootcamp. Sent lots of pictures (now I know what the bolt and decal pictures were for). He made a deal with someone else who backed out and I got it. Turned out as advertised with very few issues. A couple minor ones that I fixed. Car is as nice or better than the pictures. After looking at a lot of them on the bay, you have to look at them carefully and do research. It's still a chance, but if the price is right - ? I'm happy with mine.

Sorry for the double post above. Stupid newbie.

They are from a '99 SL500 from the part number check. 17" x 9+. 10mm spacers in front, none in back. 245/45- 17 Continentals. Lots of problems getting spacers that work and reducing vibration / balance from the spacers. Will try 5mm spacers in the rear to increase the track if I can keep the vibration down.

Could someone please help me identify this car? I am told it is a 1973 450 SL but I cannot find another like it anywhere online. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The only trick to the year would be two thing , from just a pic, would be look at the antenna placement and if there is a third brake light. But the body kit that is on it is not an AMG kit. I can barely see but if the antenna is on the front left fender I think it would have to be older then a 74. Plus looking through the windshield I cann't really see but I don't see a third brake light so it probly is a 73. i think 74 and on had to have them.

PS there aren't any windshield wipers on it and there pretty expensive.

Thank you for your insight ussun. I am still quite new to the MB world and was thinking of acquiring this car as an investment value only. At 4k I am not sure if it is a deal considering it is road worthy and comes with both roofs.

Used to be a 928 fan until I seen Road house movie and spotted the 560 SEC. Been a whole new religion ever since
