RE: 280 SL buyng tips
I'm also looking for a SL for myself here in Brazil. Already own a 1996 C-class and am an everlasting lover of the MB cars and history.
The 107 is the most beautiful automobile of all time for me. Why are you considering a 280 over an V8 model ?
Just curiosity... because I never compared both for performance, mileage, etc...
Regards,
Enrico

RE: 280 SL buyng tips
I was saying that 6L engine is much more economic than V8's.
Also remember that american V8 power is lower than european 6L for all models except 560. In the european range 350 V8 has around 200 bhp against 185 of 280 and 190 of 300. Only the 500 with 245 bhp should be really more powerful.
The main advantage in V8 is torque.
I think it will be difficult for you to find a 107 in Brazil...

RE: 280 SL buyng tips
hi Jorge !!
I must agree it is somewhat rare to find a 280SL (107) for sale in Brazil.. especially a good one !
but... I think I scored BINGO... I'm almost closing one 1983, metalic gray (172), with tan interior. VERY NICE...very nice....
I've seen the car four times... will let you know how things came out...
by the way... it is a good car to have, isn't it ?
Feel free to reply to my email.. enrico@rio.com.br
so I get your response quicker. Thanks lots.

RE: 280 SL buyng tips
Hi,
I actually own a 280 SL. I live in Buenos AIres, Argentina. Here these are the most common 107s. I agree that this is the best model to own, apart from the 300 SL that is much expensive due to the year.
Mine is the yellow one that is in the Galleries Section of this site.
Good luck !
Francisco.

Hi Sergio
the 107 are pretty hard to get down here... I always loved them.. never had one... but I´m about to get this 280SL... hope it all works out well.
Congrats for your 560 ! It seems to be one of the loved ones... Let us have all the fun with them.
All the best and thanks for the reply.
