Now, to ask just for confirmation.

I was wondering if Vegemite could go bad?
I found a tube a friend sent me about 5 years ago, and was curious.

So, what is the official AU view?

Most on line make jokes about it never being good to start with so it can't go bad.

It is highly toxic, so when DP says that N_Jay would not even be incommoded, I would be suspicious. Try it on your dog first, or even better, on your wife and trade up to a younger model.

Loads of U.S. supermarkets carry Marmite now. I think I saw it in Dominicks, but certainly World Market. Expensive, but since it's best used sparingly...

Sparingly to begin with, also Marmite dissolved in hot water makes a good drink on a cold day, Vodka can be added when the weather is deemed about cold enough.

Marmite is a beef extract and Vegemite a yeast extract. Marmite is crap but Vegemite is yummy and definitely non toxic. I just had some on my crumpets.
