This is far from a new topic, and as I'm sure you're aware, my concern has always been more about the exceptions. After all, you don't oil the wheels that are rolling just fine.
Personal attacks are going to happen, and when they are outside the bounds of the rather vague standard you summarized above there should be results. However, for a few people they seem to pass largely ignored, which simply reflects on and drags down the rest of the forum...because there is a very human tendency to give back what you get, even though you didn't "give" in the first place. I'm not one to name names in public, but you don't have to go very far to find perfect examples of it.
I'll take that as a yes. Frankly, I've never understood "very human tendency to give back what you get", or necessarily agree, though like you, I certainly do see it from time to time. Why would anyone emulate behavior he/she does not admire? It makes no sense to me, under any circumstance.

This is exactly correct. I came in and stuck to the issues for a -long- time despite an overwhelming abundance of personal attacks. Dope's response to what I had to say on this very thread is a perfect example. Look, I don't give a flying fuck except for when I respond in kind my posts get deleted as often as not.
As far as I am concerned this place is yours to moderate as you see fit although as far as I am concerned pick a lane. Shit or get off the pot, if you are going to let cocksuckers like Dope take nasty personal potshots don't remove my responses or don't let people take shitty personal potshots. It's up to you and your actions have spoken. You allow a select group of people behave like total assholes and shut down others. Far out, it's your forum, tommy actually made a pretty decent appeal for sanity last night and it was removed within moments
