Only the first minute of this video needs to be watched. I didn't even watch the rest, I just chose this copy because it was the best quality
So about a month ago, a criminal was shot point blank in the parking lot of a Carl's Jr in Monterey Park, California. I heard about this but never saw the video until today. Apparently a lot of people are all up in arms about this. I was surprised not to see any discussion about this on here. Sorry if I missed another thread, but I just had to get some discussion going on this.
The video is pretty shocking, and not much shocks me. I mean that in the sense that I can't believe I just watched someone get shot, not in the sense that it's shocking he was shot. Personally I think it was a little excessive, especially since the cop had a dog, but the Charles Bronson movie watcher inside me is actually pretty pleased about this. Hell, I even wish it went down like this more often. It would certainly save the country a whole hell of a lot of money. I'm not saying the cops should go around shooting every suspect, but in this case, it happened, and I think society is better off for it.
Here's my basic breakdown of why the shooting was justified IMO: Even though it looks like the perp was just threatening the cops and not actually going to swing, the shooting officer probably thought at the time that he was actually going to hit his partner, which with a big metal pipe, could have been a fatal blow.
I really feel like this cop needs people's support.I'm willing to bet that the majority of the country is glad this guy is dead, but are too sheepish or afraid to offend anybody to stand up and say anything about it.
It's very sad to me that the officer will possibly lose his career because he shot a criminal. Our society has advanced so much in so many ways, but I'm willing to bet that not too long ago not a single fuck would be given about this thug, and rightfully so.
So what do you guys think? Am I right, or have I watched "Death Wish" one too many times?
