Carl's Jr. Shooting

Only the first minute of this video needs to be watched. I didn't even watch the rest, I just chose this copy because it was the best quality

So about a month ago, a criminal was shot point blank in the parking lot of a Carl's Jr in Monterey Park, California. I heard about this but never saw the video until today. Apparently a lot of people are all up in arms about this. I was surprised not to see any discussion about this on here. Sorry if I missed another thread, but I just had to get some discussion going on this.

The video is pretty shocking, and not much shocks me. I mean that in the sense that I can't believe I just watched someone get shot, not in the sense that it's shocking he was shot. Personally I think it was a little excessive, especially since the cop had a dog, but the Charles Bronson movie watcher inside me is actually pretty pleased about this. Hell, I even wish it went down like this more often. It would certainly save the country a whole hell of a lot of money. I'm not saying the cops should go around shooting every suspect, but in this case, it happened, and I think society is better off for it.

Here's my basic breakdown of why the shooting was justified IMO: Even though it looks like the perp was just threatening the cops and not actually going to swing, the shooting officer probably thought at the time that he was actually going to hit his partner, which with a big metal pipe, could have been a fatal blow.

I really feel like this cop needs people's support.I'm willing to bet that the majority of the country is glad this guy is dead, but are too sheepish or afraid to offend anybody to stand up and say anything about it.

It's very sad to me that the officer will possibly lose his career because he shot a criminal. Our society has advanced so much in so many ways, but I'm willing to bet that not too long ago not a single fuck would be given about this thug, and rightfully so.

So what do you guys think? Am I right, or have I watched "Death Wish" one too many times?

Are you serious? The stupid cops put themselves in harms way. Would you stand that close to a guy with a pipe that long? Do your stupid police not have tasers? You are really blood thirsty.

Good for them. Police should shoot more people like this rather than tie up our jails with these scum. Good riddance IMO. Now here come you libs with the "oooh but…." Save your breath I'm really not interested.

Then explain England, the cops dont have guns there. You know how many crimnials get shot? none. But they still do their job.

Good thing your not in charge, we'd have nun's getting shot for holding a dangerous weapon, a bible.

I hate to sound like a dick, but that doesn't even begin to be a valid argument. We have two completely different societies. The cops don't have guns in the UK because the citizens don't have guns... and they do not have to deal with anywhere near the amount of violent amoral criminals we do here. As to why that is, speculation is open, but it is definitely true.

Irrelevant. He had a potentially deadly weapon. If those cops wouldn't have had guns, one of them may have been killed... I don't know about you, but I'd rather some criminal who thinks it's ok to walk into a carl's jr with a pipe and start breaking windows die than someone who puts their life on the line to keep the peace... and I don't even like cops.

Perhaps, a logical argument too far.
