So I get skyped by my wife a few minutes ago.
Comcast is having some issues with their e-mail servers apparently. She calls Comcast and they walk her through all the account stuff and port settings etc. Turns out everything is set fine. They then proceed to tell her that they don't support Outlook 07 so she has to go to Microsoft Tech Support and they connect her...through to India.
Ok, not a problem there. But the guy at the other end of the line tells her to go to iyogi.net/demo and do the free scan. She does it and it comes up with some red triangles so the guy goes into full court press and says he needs to take control of her laptop and in order to do that he needs to charge her $139.99 but the first month is free and if she doesn't do this right now her computer is in danger of failing, blah, blah, blah, blah.
She tells him that this doesn't really sound right since this is a new laptop could he please explain why he needs to take control of her laptop? He launches through it again not explaining anything new so she tells him no thank you and he starts yelling at her that her computer is going to die and she will lose all her files and click...
The wife has some good instincts got to say.
Comcast needs an a$$ whoopin' of the first order.
Anybody else have dealings with crap like this where they supposedly get sent to a MS tech support phone center but it turns out to be a sales pitch?
