Not much more to say here. Only in Texas. First, schizophrenic Andrea Yates sentenced to death for drowning her children (later overturned), now this. The kid is mentally retarded for heaven's sake.
He probably did not even realize that what he did was wrong. And this was a "plea bargain"? Hundred years in prison? Just punishment for a mentally retarded kid fondling a six year old? Just what kind of an asshole represented this kid in court? Hopefully someone with an ounce of common sense and sense of some proportion will intervene and overturn this ridiculous verdict.

I am sure that if he was a normal IQ son of a rich oilman, he would walk with a slap on the wrist. Or better yet, daddy would give a hundred grand to the family of the 6 years old and all would be forgotten and no charges pressed. Just remember what happened to Michael Jackson. First he bought his way out, then he got acquitted.

What a populist rant. Do you feel better? Regardless of the crime, the prosecution or the defense, a person with an IQ of less than 50, by definition, cannot live independently in free society and most probably should be institutionalized for life.

I think you are just fine with the sentence as imposed.

No, I do not feel better. The Justice system in this country sucks. You can have justice if you can afford it. About 3 years ago here in Florida in my town a drunk driver, driving very recklessly and passing a line of cars at high speed in a no passing zone struck and killed a motorcyclist with his pickup. Because he is a well known and wealthy custom motorcycle builder, his lawyers managed to get the DUI portion thrown out (his blood alcohol content was twice the limit) and he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of vehicular manslaughter. Now they are even talking about giving him a suspended sentence! In the worst case he will get a few years in prison. Some justice this is!

Yes, this was an entry into the "system". I will wager that in the diagnostic/reception unit his low level of function will be determined and he will eventually make his way into a custodial facility. He won't survive in the general prison population.

P100 is using this anecdote to tell the world that it's not fair, but it may ultimately be the best thing the perp has had happen to him.
