Go snowshoeing. I did four hours in the Rockies this winter and it was phenomenal...be warned, it's a ball buster.

So true !!

It's a real workout, but without the thrill of flying through the trees as in x/c skiing.

Here's a winter day out back with friends, ...but with snowshoes this time.

I like X/C skiing. I don't get to do it much any more because, like you, not much good snow. We only had one snow this year that was good for it. I used to go 8-10 times a year in this area.

It will wear your ass out. It burns 600-800 calories an hour in leisurely effort when you are 230+.

The best parts are just the absolute quiet in the woods when you are out there. It is fun.

Went with a couple of younger guys and I wore them out. We'd ski for four hours in the AM, then drive down the canyon and start snowshoeing (2-4 hours.) Let me tell you, when you get back to your hotel room you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow.

Yes, quiet. Also when I'm up there hiking/snowshoeing everything else just melts away, all the BS and headaches...vanish.

I gets a bit tedious just skiing so I created my own biathlon of sorts. I ski for 2 to 3 hours then drop to my knees and shoot up an abortion clinic.
