It is an honour to remember the Soldiers of past conflicts. A lot of us younger Soldiers have a great amount of respect for them.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

Most of us young or old, military or not, have utter respect for our servicemen (and servicewomen) past and present, but less so for the politicians who put them in harm's way, frequently for the wrong reasons.

I remember that day. Nobody could beat Reagan for speechmaking. That's how he beat Congress so many times on so many issues. Everybody's favorite uncle or grandfather.

When I was in the Scouts, there was the assumption that we would be going to Viet Nam. All of our leaders, including my father were WW2 vets. He and one other were Normandy vets while one was an Anzio vet and one was a Pacific Theater Air Force Lt Col. who ended up pushing me that direction. They told us the stories and taught us the lessons from the time we were 12.

They are all gone now. The last passed away just last year. And just last week an old friend who survived the Bataan Death March finally got to rest. While they are going at this very quick pace, their lessons are forever.
