rub it in He's already suspect by our friends on the right because he's black which they somehow associate with incompetence and the Hussein bit just kills them to know that we now have a Muslim in the White House. They can try a Carradine to relieve tension you know

It was an excellent speech, clear and direct, without the parsed phony language we grew so accustomed to under the Bush regime. He called a spade a spade. What I am looking for is if he backs up what he said with some much needed action that puts us in a real new direction. It is time to withhold military aid from Israel because the utter madness of the right-wing nutcase Netenyahoo's actions in the West Bank. If there is any hope for peace at all it must be stopped.

One of the biggest changes in policy I noted was in regards to Jeresuleum. Obama was saying for the first time that it should be an internationalized city, something I wholeheartedly agree with. Put it under the administration of a joint council of Muslims, Christian and Jewish religious leaders and make it a sort of God Disneyland. It would all work out like this:

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

All of them. Both parties.

Nothing changes.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.

Wow, now you see the light! I am glad that you're seeing this from a balanced angle. Yes Jerusalem should be as you described, all illegal settlements should stop and be dismantled, a two state or merged state should be worked out (well at least the latter at a small scale, like Jerusalem) and all parties should recognize and acknowledge each others right to exist and prosper. As I said before, withholding or the treat of doing so of free money flow to Israel and its neighbors will put everyone on notice that we are SERIOUS. Send AIPAC packing because they are simply the enabler for free monies to Israel. If we are going to bribe anyone it should be done under our terms and our choosing. We don't need political manipulation and arm twisting to shape our foreign policies for that region. Divorce the bitches NOW!

Most of us see the revolution. The key is to get rid of the blinders.
