Oh how I loathe HOA's. Usually they consist of fat, middle-aged drama queens and dickless twits who have nothing better to do that stir up shit in the neighborhood. I equally hate covenants!
I got tired of complaining about the HOA and decided to campaign and run for it a couple of years ago.
Needless to say, you are correct. I was far outnumbered but I was the only one who read Roberts Rules of Order. Therefore when the President moved to pass an amendment to the Architectural Control Covenant to REQUIRE that everyone pressure wash their driveway, it didn't go far. This went on for several months and he had everyone believing that the value of their home would go up if everyone pressure washed their driveways. He was a Lieutenant in the Sheriff's Department (insert cliche here).
What struck me is the fact that at the time our County was under a watering ban because of the drought so it would have been illegal for people to pressure wash the driveway and punishable by a ticket of up to $500!
People do some strange things when they get a little bit of power.
