Frankly, Barney, you shouldn't have

I've attempted Snopes for this, thinking it was another ruse, but it appears legit. Surely US Congresspeople didn't send a letter like this . . .

Wonder if Barney supervised the security check pre-hearing anal cavity search?

I thought you dudes loved a strong gov't? Wasn't that what Dubyaa advocated 24/7? You are either with us or against us? Now you finally get what you are asking for and you cannot see it because it is simply under the cover of another party. Is partisanship really that blinding?

It is indeed. I think it is quite unacceptable for the US Congress to use such tactics, don't you? I always have . . .

This would appear to be the October 23 article that started this. It seems somewhat inocuous except for one line.
Quote:
The two funds — Greenwich Financial and Braddock Financial — hold securities backed by mortgages, and they argue that the terms of the underlying loans cannot be changed without their consent.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/bu.../24modify.html

That seems to suggest that they feel that they buy packages of loans and feel that any part of the package must go through them before it can be modified.

And interesting concept and one that would put a monkey wrench in any plan to adjust mortgages.

I found the letter from the committee to be unacceptable. Do you?

It seemed very heavy handed and incongruous of something I would expect of a legislative body. I have to think there is more to that letter than the simple quotes in the NYT.

As for unacceptable, I don't know how they normally send "wish you were here" notes. The only two I have received were asking for information on a supporting issue, not to be called on the carpet.
