I was wondering which of you guys would grab the rightwing blogsphere's fav talking point today WITHOUT CHECKING OUT THE NEXT LINE OF HER COMMENTS.

The important part of an argument point is knowing WHAT was said, and in WHAT CONTEXT it was said. Glad to see you failed to do your homework again

Oh, since justice is blind, why would amputation, kidney failure or blindness be an issue?

Well, I've seen two showings of a film of her saying that in a legal meeting, then apologizing for her candor. Show your hand.

The other interesting thing to me is that in her nomination acceptance speech she thanked her mother, but never thanked welfare or affirmative action for the assistance.

We should also note at this stage that as an appeals court judge she has been reversed four times by the SCOTUS on statutory grounds. That means she got the law wrong in the judgment of other liberal justices. Just reporting; you decide.

In the Republican world today, justice is what the Fuhrer says it is.

Was she apologizing for her candor or saying what many think about the appeals courts but then saying that she didn't believe it.
Quote:
This month, for example, a video surfaced of Judge Sotomayor asserting in 2005 that a “court of appeals is where policy is made.” She then immediately adds: “And I know — I know this is on tape, and I should never say that because we don’t make law. I know. O.K. I know. I’m not promoting it. I’m not advocating it. I’m — you know.”
How much more clear does she need to be [other than the "you know" part]

This quote seems to also contradict the very tight parsing the RWBS has tried to use:
Quote:
In a forward to a 2007 book, “The International Judge” (U.P.N.E.), Judge Sotomayor seemed to put a greater emphasis on a need for judges to seek to transcend their identities, writing that “all judges have cases that touch our passions deeply, but we all struggle constantly with remaining impartial” and letting reason rule. Courts, she added, “are in large part the product of their membership and their judges’ ability to think through and across their own intellectual and professional backgrounds” to find common ground.
