I might not give the answer that you want me to"

Bot I expected better from you. You are now trying to turn the Bible into a Metaphor? Why? I would like to learn from you.

Much of the Bible is metaphorical. Especially the OT. You can draw a huge significance towards your own life from events several thousand years old.

Try getting romantic with your wife some evening and reading Song of Solomon to her.

To me it is largely metaphorical with occasional accidental inclusion of historical fact. I say accidental because I believe the writers were far less concerned with a factual accounting of history and natural science then with their concern for where people fit into this world. I don't see how to understand that except through metaphor. I mean no disrespect, that's just how I see it.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.

Genesis is not metaphorical. Genesis is wrong. The idea that the OT is metaphorical has only arisen after being proven wrong. Had the OT been considered metaphorical all along, the argument might hold some water.

In her language or mine?

Thanks, that is a better explanation and more understandable even though it is your own point of view.

German,
And that is where we differ.
Genesis is not wrong. I put stock in the writings, and you seem not to. I see the proof you speak of as incorrect. I see science meld with the writings, and somehow I think you do not. Historically it is accurate as well.

Sotra like watching Fox and CNN. The same story gets a very differing tilt, and yet there is also the true story. In the end it gets revealed (in the biblical scenario).

In fact I find you both rather difficult to communicate with at times. Aardvark only speaks the language of faith, a language I do not speak at all, and you regularly respond to things that I never said nor intended to say. If I post "2 + 2 = 4", he responds by suggesting that he knows more arithmetic than I do, and that 2 + 2 = whatever god says it equals, while you caution me not to bring the Crusades into the equation (which I have never once done).

Is the earth less than 10,000 years old, or is god too incoherent to discern the difference between a day and a billion years as we understand it? That is the choice on your plate. Any other choice is plucked from the bowels of your fertile imagination.
