Unification is favored in S. Korea. AFAIK, nearly all Koreans favor unification.

Stop them from what? Chest puffery? Trying to become respected in the world the only way they know how?

The only question on the table at this point has to be "What do they want"? Everything else has to ascertained from that.

Of course one really might find interest in why NK decided to test nukes at the same time that Iran decided to deploy their Navy. THAT would be an interesting question.

One would have thought we could have easily handled that "slam dunk" in Iraq in under six years also.

North Korea is the most militarized country in the world today, having the fourth-largest standing army in the world, at an estimated 1.1 million armed personnel, with about 20% of men ages 17–54 in the regular armed forces. It also has the Worker-Peasant Red Guard, a reserve force comprising 3.5m+ (IISS), 3.8m (USMC) or 4.7m (State Department) militia. It operates an enormous network of military facilities scattered around the country, a large weapons production basis, and an extremely dense air defense system.

You plan on volunteering? I know a good recruiter that would help insure you are on the pointy end of any action.

Yes, lots of big numbers, but quite low on the tech scale, not unlike Iraq pre-Desert Storm. Almost everyone in N. Korea's vicinity poses a very real threat to Mr. Kim's rule, hence the pursuit of nukes.

You KNOW we could have done it in half that if Rummy was replaced with a real killer ready to spend the bucks and send in the troops.

Rummy was simply doing his master's bidding, and his master was the U.S. Defense Secretary during Desert Storm. Seriously, did you just call Dick Cheney a pussy?

GS,
Do you seriously think that Cheney ran the war and called all the shots?

That has been fairly well established, yes. You have read the transcripts of the Scooter Libby trial, haven't you?
