starting with the carbonated beverage tax, then adding a tax on fried foods, beer, liquor, cigarettes, and any number of things that cause obesity and death.... we might not need the 'double wide' cars or two seats on a plane for "fatty"..
I do like the city planning idea.
The next town over, Radburn
, was designed to do just that. Everything you need in town with walkways, parks, tunnels and rail/bus lines, all within walking distance. A very well planned out area.
You'd probably need a car to get to work, but not to go food shopping/bank/drugstore, etc.
I also don't believe the "size is safer" argument.
