We wouldn't be having this discussion had I not had the procedure you're advising GS to eschew.

I have read the whole thread and I must say mixed results. I would not even contemplate this sort of treatment. You can change contact lenses or glasses but you cannot reverse a treatment like this.

It's your call GS.

So you suggest I marry first in case I need an eyeball donor? I don't get it.....

GS, I am suggesting you let go of your vanity and forget how you appeal to the opposite sex and put on a pair of glasses. Thus my suggestion about the wife and then put on a pair of glasses........

Odd the way people think. Vanity?? Vanity has nothing to do with it. Glasses can not diminish my breathtaking studliness.

Vanity schmanity! To have perfect vision independent of artificial correctives is a gift that everyone should enjoy. I ran through so many pairs of glasses because my chemical makeup would corrode the metal frames until they scratched my face or the plastic frames would whiten and delaminate.

Then there is always the fear of having them bumped or knocked off and becoming instantly blind until you can find them again. Rainy days? Forget about it...and GS mostly has in AZ but you catch my drift. Ever been in a hot, humid situation and have sweat roll across the INSIDE of the lenses where you have to stop what you're doing to take them off to wipe them clear?

Don't even START me on the contacts, which he can't wear anymore so they are moot.

I was a slave to corrected vision since I was 12 years old until I was over 40.

As for gambling on your eyes, care to post a picture of the goggles you put on every time you get behind that big piece of glass on the VW?

Strange indeed, eyesight is not about vanity.

I always hated wearing glasses in hot weather the most, sliding down a wet, sweaty nose, and wiping perspiration off the bottoms of the lenses. Terrifically uncomfortable, I love the heat, and I won't welcome anything that diminishes that. Besides that, I have a fuzzy spot right where I do a lot of work, that being from 2-3 ft. in front of my face, when I wear glasses. I want crystal clarity there, easily achieved with contacts (substitute LASIK) and reading glasses.

Good Lord Dig, there is a lot of fear, in the above rant, about wearing glasses. I have been wearing glasses full time the last 5 years and only when reading and long days on the computer 4 years prior to that. I hope I have a few more years before I have a fear of wearing glasses.
