Of Barbeque and Banana Puddin'.

On our way back home last week, Diglet #1 and her husband were behind us on his BMW K 1200 LT (unknown vintage) when she texted us to inquire about stopping at a Barbeque joint they knew of up ahead. Sounded good and they had outside tables so the doggehs could be with us.

This is not a sloppy joe sandwich or some ribs with modified ketchup and such splashed on. We're talking pulled pork sandwiches with vinegar sauce, hush puppies and Carolina slaw on a kaiser roll from the cradle of American barbeque.

Good stuff!

Then came the banana pudding. Now, I'll be the first to say that I have eschewed banana pudding over the years as it just doesn't measure up to so many other dessert choices. Not this bp, however. It was better than about 90 percent of the ICE CREAM I have tasted in my life! And I love me some ice cream.

I can't understand it when people say something desserty is "Too sweet". Say what? That's the entire point of dessert! It has to be too sweet or else it's just another part of the meal.

This banana pudding was sweet, sweet, sweet! Just cool enough to offset the sandwiches. I'd stop there again if we ever have time to go back, just to taste that dish one more time.

NC sauce is some awesome stuff! I am partial to the Alabama sauce myself. It is a mayonnaise base instead of Tomato.

So good it'd make you slap yo mama.

Banana pudding should be outlawed, or least dyed another color. It masquerades as vanilla pudding and consistently disappoints.

That was how I always felt. This stuff, however, was whipped (Ala Stewie) up and scooped out into balls o' puddin!.
