It is mentioned in the article or do I have substandard reading comprehension owing to the fact that I am a non-native English speaker...

The article seems 'fair and balanced' to me.

Largely because the U.S. dollar had sharply devalued. It has now temporarily rebounded, hence the lower price.

Only partially correct. It was a hedge for commodities traders that never took delivery upon option expiration. Someone stating Iraq was a war for oil is delirious at best. Did the war end up playing a role in it - yes - but opposite effect as pipelines were destroyed.

What about the other pipeline disruptions that had nothing to do with Iraq? Price came down when inventories of crude went up when the lack of US consumption was an ongoing concern. What has OPEC sone since?

Try not to lump emotions into logical equations. Our economy has more to do with the price of oil than anything that happened in Iraq.

Perhaps you'll be so kind as to point out my emotional outburst by quoting it. I was not aware of this grievous error. BTW, we would all do well to practice what we preach.

Reading into text is difficult - especially when new to a website and don't know the personas yet. Sorry.

It came across to me(again new here) you supported the war in Iraq was for oil - which it was not. Probably read too much into it.

Since you are an expert on Iraq, perhaps you'll take the time to enlighten us. Why did the Bush administration work so hard to manufacture a case for invading Iraq?

^ Revenge and to establish ourselves as the big dog so the others don't mess with us. Iran was too much to bite off so Iraq worked fine. How's that for honesty?

The Bush administration didn't have to manufacture - what about the UN resolutions? The UN did nothing after multiple violations - or did you forget that? Iraq poked the sleeping bear(s). That's right - multiple UN participating countries jointly involved - all others went in blindly with the US intelligence.

Maybe we should just turn our heads next time? Or bury them in the sand?

BTW - I am no expert in Iraq - just slept at a Holiday Inn last night.
